Leaving Home

Cindy and Emma at UW-Madison

Before and after Labor Day we hear stories of high school graduates leaving home, most often for college. It’s a tough time, and exciting time for the young person and a mixture of feelings for the parents and siblings.

In searching the internet, many posts about leaving home appear, whether for college or leaving home for any other reason at that young age.

However painful the process of leaving home, for parents and for children, the really frightening thing for both would be the prospect of the child never leaving home.

When you have a solid upbringing and a strong sense of place, that sustains you. My sense of home never leaves me.

  1. Thanks Loren for this. We are missing having Emma around everyday but are enjoying hearing about her new experiences!

    1. Hi Cindy, that photo of you two really summed up the idea of the young scholars leaving home for college. So nice having contact with email and other ways to know what Emma is doing. When I went it was a rare call home and letters mailed occasionally.
